BRITNEY
Britney came to Cat Welfare in December 1994. Britney has a love of adventure and travel. She usually would take quick little trips around the shelter or wander into the shelter's landscaping for a little nibble on the plants. In the late 1990s, she decided she wanted to take a real road trip and vacation from the shelter. She decided to see where all those trains that pass by the shelter went and headed North along the railroad tracks. Several months later, the shelter got a call stating she had turned up in the Polaris area. After her big adventure, she learned to stick close to the shelter and doesn't wander past our garage sale area. She doesn't know it, but she's being spied upon when she does go out. She doesn't really care much for the other cats and has a loud voice that commands your attention. She definitely likes to chat and tell you all about her day and what she's seen on her journeys. She did have a home for a short while but was returned for not using the litter box. Britney likes to think of herself as the queen of the shelter and considers the shelter her home sweet home. Britney is in the starting stages of kidney failure, but she continues to be happy and chatty. We hope Britney will be with us for some time to come and her health is monitored on a regular basis by our staff and veterinarian.
UPDATE: Sunday, July 29, 2007 - Britney's health had become very fragile in recent days and the staff decided the best thing to do was to have her put to sleep this morning at the shelter. Her best buddy Gail was with her in her final moments. Britney will be buried at the shelter in the memory garden as that area was one of her favorite spots to visit on her outdoor adventures. Thanks to everyone that cared about Britney and we will miss our sweet little girl.
