GOLD EYES

11-6-2006

Gold Eyes was put to sleep this afternoon at the shelter surrounded by many staff members. He had been at the shelter for a long time and was a staff and visitor favorite. His popularity and number of visitors had increased in recent years as a result of being a Guardian Angel cat and the elected Top Cat at Cat Welfare. Gold Eye's abdominal issues became too severe and with tearful eyes the staff made the decision that today was the day to let him go. He was at the shelter surrounded by and in the arms of those who loved him in his final moments and we will miss him dearly. He will be cremated and buried in the shelter's memory garden. Thanks for everyone that was his friend and thanks for being his Guardian Angel.

Gold Eyes' original story remains below: Gold Eyes has lived at Cat Welfare since February 1997. He is an older gentleman cat and has long upper canine teeth that peek out from under his upper lip. This distinguished look along with his sincere stare always gets him a lot of compliments. Gold Eyes is a very sweet cat and he is always the first to greet the staff in the morning. He loves to be held and petted and is an attention hog. Gold Eyes has always been a cat that people have fallen in love with and wanted to adopt. He did have three homes in 1997, but was returned all three times for not using the litter box. He also likes to mark his territory and sprays everywhere in the shelter. One of his favorite things to do is to catch a ride on the cart the staff uses to take the trash out to dumpster. He knows that if he stands on it that he's guaranteed to get some attention from the staff. Gold Eyes has a big heart and it is easy to see how he steals so many hearts.
