LIA
Lia has been with Cat Welfare since July 1996. He did have a home for a short time in 1998, but was returned for not using the litter pan. He has an inquisitive, child-like personality. He's always looking for something new to do or somewhere new to explore. His curiosity definitely gets him into trouble now and again. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was not very happy to be with us. We couldn't let him out on the floor at first due to his aggression towards the other cats, yet he hated being in a cage. Even though he has no front claws, he could have quite a temper and would bat the other feline residents pretty hard. Over the years, and with a lot of coaxing by the staff, he has finally become the adventuresome feline he now is. He still has his mood swings but manages to accept the other cats and try to make the best of having so many other kitties around. Lia has such handsome markings and is sure to keep us on our toes trying to figure out what he'll do next.
Update November 10, 2010 - We lost our precious Lia today. When the staff arrived at the shelter this morning, he was discovered to be in the process of passing away. He was rushed to the vet to see if there was anything to do or so we could ease any pain he might be in and help him cross over the Rainbow Bridge. The vet believes he had congestive heart failure. We were lucky to enjoy Lia for so many years and just seeing him put a big smile on so many of our faces. As we had one of our Silent Socialization evenings the night before, it is a comfort to know that on his last night he had enjoyed getting special attention and loving from some of his dedicated friends. Thanks for caring about Lia and for being his friend.
