NORMA JEAN
Update March 2005
Norma Jean was recently adopted by a caring supporter that wanted to give her a loving home outside of the shelter. We are sure that Norma Jean will love it in her new home. It is Cat Welfare's policy to always take our cats back if an owner is no longer able to keep their feline friend. This ensures that if things don't work out for some reason that Norma Jean always has a home at the shelter and with the staff and volunteers of Cat Welfare. Thanks for all of the love and attention Norma Jean's Guardian Angels gave her while she was residing at the shelter.
Norma Jean had been at Cat Welfare since October 2001. Her original name was "Unpredictable" and after reading her story you'll know why. When she came to us, she was what some might call feral. No one could do anything close to her. After some time, she seemed to lighten up a bit and started to let us get closer to her. Eventually it got to where people could pet her and she'd welcome the attention. However, she would suddenly have had enough and would swat at you! This behavior continued for months. After we moved her out of a cage and let her become one of our floor cats, she calmed down a lot more. Now she will actually let people pet her and hold her without giving too much attitude. By the time of her adoption, she treated her fellow feline residents much the same way so they knew to always be ready for a possible change in what she wanted. Norma Jean has a habit of liking to stretch up onto people's legs to say hello and to ask for some petting. Norma Jean was happy to be at Cat Welfare and we always looked forward to seeing her stretch up to say hello.
