To all my friends at Cat Welfare- Please don’t tell my owners that I was on their computer. I don’t want them to be mad. Here’s is my story… when this family came into Cat Welfare in July of 2009 I could tell that they were going to take a cat home. When you have been at Cat Welfare for a while, you can tell when someone comes in ready to adopt a new friend.
Carrie Anne and I weren’t really friends at Cat Welfare. There were so many cool cats that we never really hung around with each other but when this nice looking family walked in she really started schmoozing with them. We competed to be the cutest and the friendliest. We both wanted to be adopted. Carrie Anne gave me a run for my money, showing off the fact that she was “different” because she had no tail. I was worried that they wouldn’t like the fact that I had a runny nose so I really turned on the charm. You see, I had been adopted out once before from Cat Welfare. Sadly, after 6 months, that family brought me back once they realized my respiratory problem was chronic and I would always be a little sick. I did not want that to happen again.
In the end the family chose us both! Since then, I have gotten to know Carrie Anne and she is ok. I pretty much tolerate her like any brother does his sister, but I am thankful to live in this nice home and lounge around and sleep most of the day. I also like the toys that we have here and sometimes Carrie Anne and I will play fight for fun. The smallest one in this family, Olivia, really loves us. She carries us around and plays with us all of the time. The boy, Clay, is pretty cool. We have a little deal worked out. I will sleep while laying on him when it is time for him to do his chores and he tells his parents, Karen and Dustin, that he can’t move and disturb me. He likes it when I help him out like that.
I still have my stuffy nose and I make some noise when I breathe. I sometimes even make a mess when I sneeze but I can tell that this family loves me anyway which is really cool.
Your Friend, Carl
P.S. - Carrie Anne and I were adopted by the Petersen family and we now live in Westerville . The pictures are of us in our new home. Thank you for the love and care you gave us. We miss you all!

I adopted Mia and Sparkles back in July 2009. Both are doing extremely well although Sparkles will still hide when there are strange noises or she sees another cat besides Mia. We keep her mainly in one room to prevent fighting with other cats and she is usually very scared when we first take her out of the room. She'll calm down when she is on the couch with someone sitting next to her, but she'll rarely leave the couch when she is out. She loves to roll around on the couch and one of her favorite toys is a Taco Bell wrapper. I'll toss it off the couch and she'll bring it back to me. This cat is one of the loudest purrers ever and is very kittenish, especially at 4 am in the morning. She'll find a mouse toy and begin to play on top of me with it. Several times I have woken up to cat toys in my bed.
Mia is almost the opposite of Sparkles in terms of being scared of the other kitties. She loves to go out and explore the house. Unlike Sparkles, Mia just ignores the other cats and they ignore her too. Mia also loves to bang cupboard doors and she loves to play. She is very affectionate and will sleep next to me if not on me at night. She has gained a few pounds though because she loves to eat. Anytime someone puts food into a bowl, she'll have to try it even if she was eating out of another bowl with the same exact food in it.
Both girls are very beautiful and people are amazed when they realize that they only have one eye each. These two are probably the most affectionate cats that I have had and I am glad that I did get them even if they were not kittens.

Our Happy Homes Story by Abby and Alison Valentine
My sister and I got the best Christmas present ever last year! Two black kittens!!! We love them so dearly. They are so cute. We named them Max and Ruby (formerly known as Hoyt and Edwina). Max and Ruby go crazy over catnip. They can jump really high to get their toys. They love to eat and they do it really fast! Ruby wakes our mom up at 5:00 each morning to get some food for her. Max and Ruby love to be together. If you see Max, you will find Ruby right behind him. If they get separated from each other, one will meow very loudly and the other will come running. They are adorable and no cats could ever replace them.
Max and Ruby adjusted very quickly to our house. They are good friends with our older cat Henry. He likes the company, too! We don't know what we would do without Max and Ruby!
My name is Myrtle, it used to be Isabella. I am 6 months old.
Before me, my mommy had a kitty for 15 years and she passed away.
Her boyfriend knew how much she would love to have another kitty
and thought it was time to get her one. Needless to say after coming
to Cat Welfare they found me! It didn’t take me long to love my new
home and family. I have so many toys and mice to play with. I love
to play fetch and my newest trick is to drop my mice in their glass of
soda when they’re not looking. But at the end of the day what I enjoy
most is to cuddle up and go to sleep. It’s wonderful to live in such
a happy home with love!

We adopted Mel and Moo (named Moe at the shelter and thus changed because of the great black and white markings) in September of 2009. We had just moved back from Japan and were missing the pets in our lives and what they bring to your heart every day! We had to let our cat Sassy live with Grandma when we moved to Japan, and thus with great pampering and non-stop attention, needless to say Sassy wasn't ours anymore. We came to the Cat Welfare Association and were pleasantly surprised at the variety of great cats available. Our biggest need was a cat that would like to be held constantly by our 5 year old daughter Josie who is now on her 4th month of being "Cat Crazy". The staff directed us to Mel who had very unique markings and was just as advertised...very loving and huggable! However, we also found Moo and had to get 2 huggable cats! The more the merrier. Mel and Moo have adapted well and have us wrapped around their little paws. They are great cats and we are so blessed to have them in our family! Thanks to the staff at the Cat Welfare Association and keep up the wonderful work you do every day!

We wanted to email our success story to you guys because it really has been nothing but a great success and we can't appreciate the new buddy we have enough!
My brother and I adopted our new best friend, Tony in March 2009. We came into the Cat Welfare shelter and were happily greeted by this big, stately guy. We are partial to cats with a little attitude and when Tony sternly meowed at our feet, we knew we had been chosen! We attempted to look around at other cats, so as to make the best of the wide selection, but we had fallen in love within minutes! Within weeks of adopting Tony, he grew round and healthy and stopped shedding, a trait he had which was of slight concern. Now, his coat is shiny, soft, and smells amazing. We even call his kitty smell "Tony cologney". He now sleeps with one of us every night, watches TV with us, and waits for us by the door. Tony is the most beautiful creature in the entire world and we seriously couldn't imagine our lives without him!!! Meow!!
Thank you so much!

We adopted Biscuit (known to Cat Welfare as Thelma) in November 2009 after a very brief encounter that convinced both of us that we were for each other. We’d just lost a stray cat, Bikini, that we were slowly welcoming into our home, to a very tragic car accident. Biscuit welcomed us to the shelter with the loudest purr we’d ever heard and eyes that said, “Adopt me please!” We couldn’t resist! She took to the house immediately and slept on our bed on her first night home. She loves to play Wii with me, follow Amanda around the kitchen while she’s making biscuits (it’s hard not to with a cat named Biscuit in the house), and is often waiting for us at the window when we get home from work. Shortly after adopting Biscuit, we felt compelled to welcome another cat into our house, a true stray we noticed around a place where we both volunteer. Stella and Biscuit are now inseparable, and we have Cat Welfare to thank for opening our hearts to the needs of homeless cats all over Columbus.

Paulie wanted to say hi and let you all know that he is doing great. We adopted him in 2006 after a long wait due to him being held in isolation due to his broken pelvis. He now has a sister named Graycyn who he loves very much. He enjoys watching the birds outside, sleeping, and playing with his sister. He loves to cuddle and is a total sweetheart. He sleeps on my pillow next to my head and puts his paws on my face. He is very much loved and adored.
Thank you Cat Welfare...the many trips to visit Paulie in isolation was worth it.
